The C.A.M. Report
Complementary and Alternative Medicine: Fair, Balanced, and to the Point
  • About this web log

This blog ran from 2006 to 2016 and was intended as an objective and dispassionate source of information on the latest CAM research. Since my background is in pharmacy and allopathic medicine, I view all CAM as advancing through the development pipeline to eventually become integrated into mainstream medical practice. Some will succeed while others fail. But all are treated fairly here.

Lower your risk for prostate cancer

There’s no sure way to prevent prostate cancer, according to the Mayo Clinic staff, but here are their dietary recommendations.

Consider the following changes to your diet.

    • Reduce your intake of fat.
    • Limit fatty foods, or choose low-fat varieties.
    • Use plant-based fats in place of animal fats.
    • Eat more fruits and veggies.
    • Eat more salmon, sardines, tuna, and trout for their omega-3 fatty acid levels.
    • Reduce your intake of dairy products.
    • If you drink tea, consider choosing green tea.
    • Isoflavones are linked to a reduced risk of prostate cancer – eat tofu, kidney beans, chickpeas, lentils, and peanuts.

    The bottom line?

Go to the website for more information on diet, as well as the potential for weight control and exercise to lower your risk of prostate cancer.
