The C.A.M. Report
Complementary and Alternative Medicine: Fair, Balanced, and to the Point
  • About this web log

This blog ran from 2006 to 2016 and was intended as an objective and dispassionate source of information on the latest CAM research. Since my background is in pharmacy and allopathic medicine, I view all CAM as advancing through the development pipeline to eventually become integrated into mainstream medical practice. Some will succeed while others fail. But all are treated fairly here.

Chiropractic care of infants with colic

Researchers in Pennsylvania and California reviewed the evidence on the chiropractic care of patients with infantile colic.

    First, the details.

    • 26 articles were included.
      • These consisted of 3 clinical studies, 2 surveys, 4 reviews, and an assortment of other articles.

    And, the results.

    • The data support chiropractic care as a viable alternative to the care of infantile colic, particularly when one considers that medical care options are no better than placebo or have associated adverse events.

    The bottom line?

Unfortunately, the abstract shares few details.

The authors recommend additional study in this area of pediatric care.
