Complementary and Alternative Medicine: Fair, Balanced, and to the Point
  • About this web log

This blog ran from 2006 to 2016 and was intended as an objective and dispassionate source of information on the latest CAM research. Since my background is in pharmacy and allopathic medicine, I view all CAM as advancing through the development pipeline to eventually become integrated into mainstream medical practice. Some will succeed while others fail. But all are treated fairly here.

    Ear stapling for weight loss

“When I pushed on it, stuff would come out the holes”

“It was real hard for me to open my mouth; it was hard for me to chew and stuff like that. It was just unbearable; I couldn’t sleep on it or anything.”

    • Loosely based on the principles of acupuncture
    • A largely unregulated practice
    • Infection is a potential risk

And, the number one thing to know about ear stapling.

    • No evidence that it works
