Complementary and Alternative Medicine: Fair, Balanced, and to the Point
  • About this web log

This blog ran from 2006 to 2016 and was intended as an objective and dispassionate source of information on the latest CAM research. Since my background is in pharmacy and allopathic medicine, I view all CAM as advancing through the development pipeline to eventually become integrated into mainstream medical practice. Some will succeed while others fail. But all are treated fairly here.

Health benefits of curry in the news

USA Today just published a positive article about the potential health benefits of curry — the heavily spiced sauce or relish made with curry powder.

It’s clear that researchers are enthusiastic. But so far the majority of studies have been conducted in small groups of patients, or animals, or the laboratory.

    There’s one exception.
An earlier post here summarized the findings in one large study of curry’s effect on perception, memory, judgment, and reasoning.

In addition, the same entry summarized the results of a preliminary study where it was suggested that curry might help prevent colon cancer.
