Complementary and Alternative Medicine: Fair, Balanced, and to the Point
  • About this web log

This blog ran from 2006 to 2016 and was intended as an objective and dispassionate source of information on the latest CAM research. Since my background is in pharmacy and allopathic medicine, I view all CAM as advancing through the development pipeline to eventually become integrated into mainstream medical practice. Some will succeed while others fail. But all are treated fairly here.

More positive data on the Mediterranean diet for impotence

In an earlier post, the positive effect of the Mediterranean diet on erectile dysfunction in men with the metabolic syndrome was discussed. Now, another positive study has appeared.

Among 35 men with the metabolic syndrome who followed the Mediterranean diet, 37% achieved International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) scores of at least 22. By comparison, only 7% of men who did not follow the diet rated this high. A score below 21 indicates dysfunction.

More about the Mediterranean diet can be found here.
