Complementary and Alternative Medicine: Fair, Balanced, and to the Point
  • About this web log

This blog ran from 2006 to 2016 and was intended as an objective and dispassionate source of information on the latest CAM research. Since my background is in pharmacy and allopathic medicine, I view all CAM as advancing through the development pipeline to eventually become integrated into mainstream medical practice. Some will succeed while others fail. But all are treated fairly here.

Where are the randomized clinical trials of CAM?

? This graph shows the consistent year-to-year increase in the number of randomized clinical trials in CAM based on a MEDLINE search between 1982 and 2002. There has also been an increase in the number of systematic reviews and META analyses during the same period.

The information can be found online at Complementary and Alternative Medicine in the United States, which is a publication of The National Academies Press.
