Overweight: The symptom, not the problem

Michelle Morand is Founder and Director of The CEDRIC Centre. a few years ago she published a book titled, Food is not the problem: Deal with what is!

According to the author, “The purpose of this book is to provide you with the education and skills you need to heal from your use of food as a coping strategy. It will also greatly benefit you if you use alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, sex, relationships, self-harm, rage, and any other coping behaviors to help you numb or soothe painful thought or feelings.”

The high point in the book is reference to Dr. Irene (the wife) on page 360 and her list of signs of an emotionally abusive relationship.

The bottom line?
In a comment to a earlier post, Dr. Jason Jones wrote that the validity of the outcomes at the end of clinical research depends on asking the appropriate question at the start.

Perhaps for many people, dieting to lose weight is not successful because the underlying cause of the food obsession is not being addressed.

Dr. Irene says “everybody knows that.” Well, now, so do I. ?
