Consumer Alert: Joyful Slim Herb Supplement

It has been a big week for product recalls.

Joyful Slim Herb Supplement is the third so far.

FDA lab analysis of Joyful Slim Herb Supplement found the undeclared drug, desmethyl sibutramine. It’s an FDA-approved drug used as an appetite suppressant for weight loss. But it’s not approved for use in Joyful.

Sibutramine (Meridia) is known to substantially increase blood pressure and/or pulse rate in some people and may present a significant risk in those with a history of coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, or stroke.

The bottom line?

Consumers should not consume Joyful and return it immediately to the place of purchase for a full refund.

If you’ve suffered a side effect, report it to the FDA, here.

By the way, the other “natural” products recalled this week are Slim-30 Herb Supplement, which also contained the sibutramine derivative, and Vialipo, another dietary supplement that contained sildenafil (Viagra).

There have been so many recalls of “natural” weight loss product (many due to sibutramine) that I would be naïve to think that any “natural” weight loss product dose NOT contain an unapproved drug and unlabeled drug.

Click “Consumer Alert” in the right column for more recalls.
