Two Canadian doctors debate the issue. And a reader debates me.

Dr Mark Ware from the Montreal General Hospital believes there is a role for cannabinoids. Among other reasons, Dr. Ware’s rationale is that “There is solid scientific rationale for therapeutic use of cannabis.” Unfortunately, he fails to list any research in support of this statement.

Dr Meldon Kahan from St Joseph’s Health Centre in Toronto counters, “Cannabis use has been associated with multiple medical problems, including bronchitis, psychosis, and cognitive impairment.” In addition, safer alternatives are available. And he also provides references in support of his position.
